A shocking story that will leave your head spinning

The book, Slivers of Reality, is a breathtaking, heart stopping, blood pumping race to the finish. From the first page Cathlene Smith throws you into a maelstrom of extreme confusion. You feel like you are John Smith, that you have awakened somewhere and are lost. This story was creatively written, with passion and fear that you could feel just by reading words. It was hard to go through what John went through, losing his father, his son addicted to heroin, his fiancé living in terror while he was away. Most people crumble under the pressure, some hallucinate, John did neither. He found faith; faith that his father had, that had passed to him. This Power helped John through his hard time, and during this struggle he managed to change the lives of others. The Power changed his view of the world, brought his family closer, and created a better life for him. I think that we could all use a touch of this Power, to help get by. Who knows what the Power really is, maybe we all have this Power deep inside us that comes out when we are in need. Cathlene Smith is an amazing writer, her imagination is inspiring. I highly recommend this book to everyone! Just pick it up, give it a chance. I know you won't want to put it down!

This book was very fun and frightening to read. Couldn't help but to read the whole thing in one weekend...just couldn't stop turning the pages. On the look out for more stories from this author.

Imagine having your father die after making the decision to release him from life support, finding out your son is addicted to heroin, realizing that you have gained a seemingly supernatural Power and waking up in a psychiatric ward. In Slivers of Reality that's exactly the predicament the main character, John, finds himself in. The first chapter draws in the reader. "I'll tell you anything! Everything! Just don't drug me! Those were my last audible words. I could see from my surroundings, my pleas fell on deaf ears." As I began to read, the whole plot and story seemed as if it might be overwhelming. With each page, I wondered how the author would bring everything together, but she seemed to effortlessly pull me in and keep me turning pages. Ms. Smith manages to build a nice palette of characters a glimpse at a time, using flashbacks, as John keeps remembering his past. As this suspenseful tale unfolded, I found myself wondering if John really belonged in the psychiatric ward. As we are introduced to each new personality in the book, we find that all of them have their own issues they are dealing with. Because each of them interacts with John on a different level, the fear emerges that he will not say and do the right things to be released. John believes that he has been given a Power when his father draws his last breath and that he must play the Game that has been left to him. It would seem that others are in on it, too.John, in his foggy state of mind, must decide if he truly has been blessed with a special Power and if he has, if he should keep it, or is it just his mind playing tricks on him from sleep deprivation. Cathleen Smith has created a thriller sure to please even the most discerning readers in her book, Slivers of Reality. I received my copy at 1:00 pm and just finished it at 12:25 am. This book grabbed me from the moment I read the description. Having had loved ones experience psychotic breaks after the death of a family member this book spoke to me. I laughed, cried and was thrilled. I had to continue the journey once I started to see where the Power would take John and what he would do with it. For me I know that our Heavenly Father can give us Power and strength when needed to help us heal ourselves and others. So I now challenge you the next reader checking out this book; Can this really happened to a person? Or is this all just the creative mind of Cathlene Smith? Pick it up and decide for your self, don't let the price scare you, this is your first ride into the world of a whole new author, get on board and enjoy the ride. The book is a keeper in my library and I highly recommend it.
